The Big Two - Zero

Emmanuel and Ibinabo's baptism!! T'was such a great experience. Grateful for the Lord guiding Emmanuel and his family here to Calgary and this AMAZING ward that made it all happen. Emmanuel and Ibinabo are such bright people! Their kid's names are (butchered spelling) Jumiloju (see below) and Majola. The cutest kids.

The big 20! Thank you, everyone, for the bday wishes. Thank you district for the surprise party! Feels weird to not be a teenager anymore ut I guess life goes on:)

Some thoughts from President Keung that I really enjoyed this week:
“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” This phrase goes inspires many to develop a “can-do” attitude. Certainly, in today’s conditions, we need to have a “can-do” attitude. We must do all we can to be optimistic and develop such an attitude. However, for sustaining and everlasting power, when we couple ourselves to the Savior, Jesus Christ, we “CAN DO all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”.(Philippians 4:13)

FOCUS, NOT CIRCUMSTANCES
“The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.” (“Joy and Spiritual Survival”, President Russell M Nelson, General Conference, October 2016)

GROW INTO THE PRINCIPLE OF REVELATION
“Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses—yes, the very longings of your heart. And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will “grow into the principle of revelation.” (“Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives”, President Russell M Nelson, General Conference, April 2018)

COUNT BLESSINGS RATHER THAN RECOUNTING PROBLEMS
“Counting our blessings is far better than recounting our problems. No matter our situation, showing gratitude for our privileges is a unique, fast-acting, and long-lasting spiritual prescription. Simply stated, “In everything give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). (“The Healing Power of Gratitude”, President Russell M Nelson, November 20, 2020)

Give your burdens to the Lord! He is there for you.

Love you all so much!!

Elder Giles
