Hello everyone! So the world is kind of going in a weird direction at this point!! Not really sure what I can say right now but I guess I'll give you a quick update on how the work is going right now. Since Thursday last week we have received about 5 emails a day from our mission president keeping us updated on what we can do to be safe and how we can continue the work. Originally nothing changed other than we couldn't tract (knock doors). That day church and all meetings (including ESL) got canceled. Everything got super crazy, stores started getting closed indefinitely (lulu lemon and the golf course), everyday bathroom necessities started selling out, and people started going into panic mode. Just recently we received notice from the Canada government that we are doing a nation wide "quarantine" where people are asked to consider staying in and to stay 6ft away from anyone else. So yea that makes it so we can't do any street contacting!!
At first I was getting really discouraged wondering how the Lord will continue to hasten his work, but I know that all this madness is part of the plan! Our living Prophet, President Russell M. Nelson has been receiving revelation for us to prepare for times like these! You've seen the quotes and prophecies! Really an eye opener that we should listen to him!
"No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing;
persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent..."
Yesterday Elder Choi and I were doing some Facebook contacting! Basically the most effective thing we can do at this moment. I messaged a travel agency to tell them that I was a representative of Jesus Christ here in Calgary to teach people about God. They immediately responded with something along the lines: "awesome, I have a few questions for you! Why does God give us trials?" That question led into a huge discussion and ultimately teaching her the entire Plan of Salvation! Sadly she lives in Hong Kong, but Elder Choi is working through his members to get her fellowshipped! We are still in contact over Facebook and will continue to do what we can to help her! The work will progress!
Friends, right now more than ever is a time we need to turn to the Lord. We have no idea what the future holds, but we know exactly what we can do to prepare for whatever that is! Continue to work on the basics. Pray, read your scriptures, listen to the prophet, wash your hands, etc..
"Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.
Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day"
Alma 37: 36-37
We are living in the last days! Continue to do the basics and the Lord will comfort you. I can feel him constantly and continually bless and comfort me. In all this tribulation, the only way we will live spiritually is through turning to Him. Hear Him. Love you all! Know that I am doing just fine:) wish you all the best of luck in these crazy times!!
