New friends and cold weather!

Hello Everybody! How's life? Life up here in Canada is absolutely great. The work is progressing so much everyday and the snow packed roads make me look forward to driving! Our 4-wheel drive Nissan Rogue is a monster in the snow. This week was amazing, stayed super busy and had some super cool experiences. Here are the highlights!

Fighting preacher:
Got to see the new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' movie called Fighting Preacher last week! 10/10 recommend. It's about the Bean family that went on a mission back to Palmara to live in Joseph Smith's cabin and buy back the Hill Cumorah where Joseph got the plates! Their 5 year mission got extended quite a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Zone council:
Had Zone council this week. Got to drive up to the chapel that's in the same parking lot as the Calgary Temple! *picture attached.   The meeting was great, setting some new goals, and learning about how we can better progress the work! One missionary shared a really cool scripture passage.

Alma 4:3-5:
3 And so great were their afflictions that every soul had cause to mourn; and they believed that it was the judgments of God sent upon them because of their wickedness and their abominations; therefore they were awakened to a remembrance of their duty.

4 And they began to establish the church more fully; yea, and many were baptized in the waters of Sidon and were joined to the church of God; yea, they were baptized by the hand of Alma, who had been consecrated the high priest over the people of the church, by the hand of his father Alma.

5 And it came to pass in the seventh year of the reign of the judges there were about three thousand five hundred souls that united themselves to the church of God and were baptized. And thus ended the seventh year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi; and there was continual peace in all that time

I love that! If we are all AWAKENED TO THE REMEMBRANCE OF OUR DUTY then we will have way more than 3,500 baptisms. It's just so cool how that still applies so well today.

Cantonese pass off lesson:
Found a nice old lady tracting the could understand us but she only spoke cantonese! So we went and got the downtown elders to communicate with her. The lesson went great! I wasn't able to understand much of it since they were speaking Cantonese, but I was able to add some input using mandarin and she would understand me just fine. Weird how that works.

Dylan and Rose:
Picked up 2 more amazing interested people! A mother and son that just moved here from China 2 months ago. They saw one of our ESL posters and got in contact with me that way. Over the phone she was so so grateful that she met us even though we hadn't met yet. She is truly one of those people that God puts in our path for a reason! She had been searching for truth since they arrived in Canada, and she's so glad she found it! Dylan is a little shy, but we have seen him a few times this week and every time he opens up a little more. We have only taught them a few principles of the Gospel since it is SO foreign to them, but slowly and surely they will progress and be ready to accept the fullness of the gospel! Oh yea and they have 2 family members that live way south that also wants to get taught about the gospel!

Exchanges:
Got to go on companionship exchanges with Elder Vincent again! That man is amazing. He is District Leader, has a very difficult comp, covers 2 zones, and hasn't finished training yet... I respect him so much. It was awesome to go up north and be his comp for a day! We did so much work in the few hours we had together. Picked up a few people that had been referred to him, visited a couple inactive families, and tracked in the snow for quite a while! It was so refreshing to be with someone that actually wanted to go tracking! Elder Vincent is such an example to me.

Canadian remembrance day
Our most unsuccessful day:
11/11 is Canadian remembrance day! I can't remember what they call it. Everyone wears a red flower pin to remember the soldiers that fought for their freedom. It's probably about as big as Independence Day in America. Every single store was closed. We had plans to meet with some members, teach some inactives, and pass off a lesson in high river but every single one of them canceled. So we wanted to go to the library to study and make more ESL posters, closed. So we were going to go fix a crack in the windshield before it spread, closed. One thing after another!! It was stressful but in the end we just ended up mall tracting and knocking doors all day.

Finally passed off hector and Fianny:
Do you remember my 2 spanish investigators? Well they are still doing great! They had progressed a little bit with me using google translate to teach them but it wasn't effective. We finally got the Spanish speaking sisters to come with us to teach them! They were able to teach them the whole restoration smoothly. It was nice, the spirit was present and they loved it! I am so grateful we have spanish speaking missionaries here.

Canada is cold and awesome! This church is truly God's kingdom on earth. I see it progress through seeds planted everyday. I love this gospel and the happiness it brings to people's lives!!
